Our story
From apprentice bricklayer to founder
Prime Buildings & Developments Ltd was founded by Rick Humphries with one aim: to give homeowners a reliable, trustworthy building service, with clear communication throughout every stage of a project.
Rick started as an apprentice bricklayer at 16, moved into carpentry at 21, and went on to build his skills across the full range of residential building trades. That 21 years of hands-on experience is behind every project we take on.
Who we help. Homeowners who want more space or a better layout without moving. We work on residential projects only, no commercial contracting.
What we specialise in. Extensions (design-and-build, or built from your approved drawings), structural wall removal with engineer-specified steel, complete renovations and kitchens, supply-and-fit or install-only.

Trust, communication and reliability
Honest estimates
A professional quantity surveyor prepares your estimate from the real scope. It’s free for most projects; only unusually complex schemes are £250 including VAT, and we tell you first.
Pay for what you can see
The first payment is due 72 hours before we start. Then 4 to 7 stage payments, each tied to a visible milestone, with a small final balance at handover.
Done properly
Structural work is carried out to engineer’s calculations, with Building Control sign-off where applicable. Our on-site team hold trade-specific NVQs.
Protected
£5,000,000 public liability and employers’ liability insurance, plus an optional insurance-backed guarantee at 15% of the final project cost.
